Fritz Roed Cultural Center
We are pleased to present the project that fits into the collaborative and partnership relations between the Municipality of Villa Faraldi and the "Fritz Røed" Foundation. This collaboration, active for many years, is dedicated to promoting the visual arts, craftsmanship, and artistic activities, focusing particularly on the work of Fritz Røed. Through research and communication between Norway and Italy, the Foundation, established in 2003, promotes cultural exchanges between Villa Faraldi and the municipality of Time (Norway), Fritz Røed's homeland.
As part of this partnership, we present a project that includes:
Scholarship for Norwegian Artists:
Every two years, a scholarship will be established and awarded to a Norwegian artist. The goal is to enhance art by collaborating with local artisanal and agricultural traditions. The next scholarship will be dedicated to wood carving.
The study period in Villa Faraldi, lasting two or three months, will allow the artist to immerse themselves in the territory and local culture.
During the residency, the artist will create a work inspired by the context and will participate in the Villa Faraldi Cultural Festival with exhibitions and projects.
Promotion of the Works of Fritz Røed and Other Norwegian Artists in Villa Faraldi:
The Foundation will collect works, photographic documentation, and objects related to the work of artists, placing them in the Oratory of Santa Caterina, the studio of Fritz Røed.
Exhibitions and documentation of Norwegian and Italian artists will be organized.
A written documentation will be prepared to present the Norwegian artists who have contributed to valuing Villa Faraldi.
Joint Management of the Oratory Santa Caterina:
The Foundation will collaborate with the Municipality of Villa Faraldi in managing the Oratory Santa Caterina, transforming it into a workshop for arts and crafts for artists from all over the world.
The spaces of the oratory will be restored and designated as an artist residence and studio, equipped with necessary technical equipment and safety requirements.
This intervention constitutes a fundamental pillar for bringing artists from around the world to the territory, consolidating Villa Faraldi's role in the production chain of the cultural and creative sector. We are excited to contribute to a lasting artistic and cultural growth in the coming years!
