Historic Mills "Between Past and Present"

A Villa Faraldi, the new cultural center “U Gumbu de Nuccio” is born: open to the public, the oil museum Villa Faraldi, Liguria – It was officially inaugurated today in Tovo Faraldi, a fraction of Villa Faraldi, the restoration of the historic oil mill “U Gumbu de Nuccio”, transformed into a museum of oil and cultural center dedicated to the peasant roots and the historical identity of the territory.

The ancient gumbu, a traditional oil mill dating back to the 17th century, underwent a significant recovery intervention funded by the project Cultura Open Hub – innovation and tourism in the villages, winner of the PNRR Villages Call. In the presence of local and regional authorities, the building was presented as a new reference point for historical memory, culture, and slow tourism of the Ligurian hinterland.

The museum, managed by the association Tovo nel Cuore APS, is part of the broader Diffused Museum “La Via dei Gumbi” and offers interactive exhibition paths that illustrate the entire production process of extra virgin olive oil, from harvesting to pressing and preservation. Exhibitions, events, and educational activities will be integral parts of the cultural offering.

The inauguration took place concurrently with the first appointment of “I Sentieri di Pietra”, a series of guided excursions that connect ancient paths between Villa Faraldi and the surrounding villages, reviving the enhancement of the territory through nature, history, and tradition.
