Villa Faraldi: 400 thousand euros for tanks and irrigation network

Inaugurated this morning, Friday, February 6th, the work on the reservoirs and irrigation pipeline in Villa Faraldi, strategic works to support local agriculture and improve the management of water resources in an area often subject to drought.

The ceremony was attended by the municipal administration of Villa Faraldi, the mayor of Cervo Natalina Cha, and the regional councilor for Agriculture Alessandro Piana, who emphasized the importance of funding from the Rural Development Program in supporting investments in internal areas. The intervention was made possible thanks to over 400 thousand euros of PSR funds from the Liguria Region.

The project involved the construction of a new 200 m³ reservoir in Villa Faraldi, connected to two wells, a second 260 m³ reservoir in Tovo Faraldi, also connected to two wells, and the restoration of an existing reservoir.

“This is a strategic work for the territory and for the future of local agriculture,” declared Mayor Stefano Damonte. “Water management is essential to support companies and provide new opportunities for young people. The goal is to ensure efficient use of the resource, also through micro-irrigation systems to avoid waste.”

The administration is now looking at new investments in infrastructure and secondary roads to promote the recovery of agricultural activities. The new irrigation system will allow for a more rational distribution of water, with tangible benefits for companies and for the sustainability of the territory.

“A fundamental intervention for about 50 agricultural companies,” added councilor Alessandro Piana. “The new infrastructures ensure a more efficient and safe management of the water resource. The remote control system for the wells has also been completed, financed with FOSMIT funds, which allows for constant monitoring.”

The initiative represents an important step towards more sustainable and resilient agricultural development for the entire Steria Valley.
